JZ defeats Kikuno!
2010-07-10
After nearly a two year layoff Gesias "JZ" Cavalcante was finally able to put the injuries behind him and get back in the ring. JZ took on tough Japanese striker Katsunori Kikuno. Both had their moments in the early going, but it was JZ who put his opponent on his back for most of the 2nd round and worked to finish before pulling out a split decision victory. JZ's next bout should be on American soil as he will fight under the Strikeforce banner. Congrats to JZ who has had a long road back!

In the main event of the evening, Micah Miller took on Bruce Conners.
After a brief feeling out process, Micah was able to find his range and drop a beautiful left hook which dropped Conners. Micah was there to follow up when the referee jumped in to halt the action at the 2:01 mark of the first round. Micah Miller by KO! After having worked so hard in the gym, it was nice to see Micah finish the way he did. Micah improves his record to an impressive 14-4.
Also fighting on the card for ATT was newcomer Jake Alibinio. Unfortunately, Jake lost via armbar in the first round. Jake has a lot of raw talent and will be back.
Ryan Quinn, who just moved down from ATT Conn., lost a unanimous decision to a tough wrestler. Ryan is another battler and will be back.
On a bright note, Marianna Kheyfets from Luigi Mondelli's (ATT Conn.) academy, won her big pro debut over the infamous Kim Couture. Marianna tapped her out with a fight ending triangle choke 3:06 of the first round! Great win to start your career.
Congrats to all the fighters who trained hard and fought their hearts out last night.
